Counselling and Psychotherapy in Arklow, Gorey and Online

As a fully qualified IACP counsellor and psychotherapist, I offer both short-term and long-term therapy for adult individuals. My approach is humanistic, integrative and person-centred, placing our therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together. I provide sessions both in-person at various locations around Gorey and Arklow, as well as online for your convenience. With my background in neurodiversity-informed and trauma-informed practice, I can help you navigate a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems, self-esteem, and more.

Engaging in counselling and psychotherapy is a collaborative process where we work together to help you understand yourself better, overcome challenges, and create positive change in your life. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship, built on trust, warmth, and genuine understanding, is the foundation for meaningful growth and healing.

In our sessions, I'll provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I recognise that you are the expert on your own life, and you already possess the inner resources and wisdom to find the answers you seek. My role is to support and empower you in accessing those strengths, helping you gain new perspectives and develop effective coping strategies.

What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

While many people use the terms counselling and psychotherapy interchangeably, there are some differences between the two. Counselling often focuses on addressing specific issues or challenges that are impacting your life in the present. It tends to be more short-term and solution-focused, helping you develop practical strategies and coping mechanisms to manage current difficulties. Counselling can be highly effective in dealing with issues such as stress, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship problems.

Psychotherapy, on the other hand, tends to be a longer-term process that explores deeper-rooted patterns, experiences, and emotions. It aims to facilitate insight, self-understanding, and personal growth by examining the underlying causes of your challenges. Psychotherapy can help you uncover unconscious beliefs, work through past traumas, and address recurring themes in your life. It can be particularly helpful for individuals seeking to make significant, long-lasting changes in their lives.
