Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy in Arklow, Gorey and Online

About Me

Counsellor based in Arklow, Co. Wicklow

Hello, I'm Lorraine, a passionate and dedicated counsellor and psychotherapist. My journey into this field began with a personal experience that ignited a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Despite starting my career with a degree in hospitality management, I felt called to help people navigate their own challenges and find the strength within themselves.

For over two years, I have had the privilege of working at Living Life Counselling Service, where I have assisted clients in overcoming various difficulties. This experience has not only strengthened my skills as a therapist but has also reaffirmed my belief in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship.

As a humanistic and integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I work from a person-centred approach while also drawing upon other modalities I have studied, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy.

I also draw on Body Psychotherapy - the mind and body connection - exploring the connection between our thoughts and body sensations, and Existential Psychotherapy, which helps clients to gain agency in their own lives. That they are free to make their own choices and the capacity to change ones life is the clients personal responsibility. This allows me to tailor my approach to the unique needs of each individual, ensuring that I provide the most effective support possible.

I firmly believe that the relationship between the counsellor/psychotherapist and the client is the most crucial aspect of the therapeutic process. With this in mind, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental, and confidential environment where my clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Whether you are seeking short-term, goal-focused counselling or longer-term psychotherapy, I am here to walk alongside you on your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

When I'm not working with clients, I find joy in staying active through running and weight training. I also love spending time outdoors, often taking my two beloved dogs for walks in the woods and along the beach. These activities not only keep me grounded but also serve as a reminder of the importance of self-care and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
